Paper illustration

This one is for an iPhone app for expecting moms.

Process:

In this one I used the embossing tool to give volume to the paper cutouts. Learnt it from Carlos Meira's paper artworks. Check his beautiful illustrations here on his blog: http://carlosmeirailustrador.blogspot.in/  I developed my interest in paper craft/illustrations only after seeing his works. For his tutorial click here

The old background that I prepared for the character was blue and light green. But it wasn't going well with the yellow dress. So created the new one with greenish yellow background. Not happy with that either.. thinking about having a pinkish peach. Will update the post soon.

Rotoscopy

This was done for a class assignment back in 2010 to understand rotoscopy.
Rotoscopy is an animation technique in which aniamtors trace over the live action film footage, frame-by-frame.

And here are two of my favourite videos ~

1. BREAKBOT "BABY I'M YOURS" from Jérôme Lozano (editor) on Vimeo.
It's a combination of rotoscopy and hand drawn animation. Love this style, colors and animation! Each frame selected for rotoscopy is hand painted and there are more than 2000 such frames!

2. CHERIE 25 Habillage from MATHEMATIC SAS on Vimeo.
It's done with a 3D software, and I don't understand how it is made, but it's a lovely film!

Coptic stitch

One of my old commissions. Had to explain the book binding technique using coptic stitch, in 7 steps. (I learnt coptic stitch from this tutorial~by SeaLemonDIY)
It was the first time I tried to illustrate a tutorial for explaining things. I just had to create the illustrations, and the text was going to be added later to the pages.

“Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on;
It is not given for you alone, Pass it on;
Let it travel down the years, Let it wipe another's tears,
'Til in Heaven the deed appears - Pass it on. ”
